William James, 4th Earl of Seaforth

William James, 4th Earl of Seaforth (1695–1756), was a Scottish nobleman and military officer. He played a significant role in the Jacobite uprisings, which sought to restore the Stuart monarchy to the British throne. A member of the Highlands gentry, he led Highland troops and was a key figure in the Jacobite cause, particularly during the 1715 uprising. Despite initial successes, the movement ultimately failed, leading to significant political and social changes in Scotland. After the uprisings, Seaforth's influence waned, and he spent later years in relative obscurity, reflecting the shifting tides of Scottish history.
