Vietnamization
Vietnamization was a strategy employed by the United States during the Vietnam War, initiated in the late 1960s. Its goal was to decrease American military involvement and shift the responsibility for the war to the South Vietnamese forces. This approach included providing South Vietnam with increased military training, equipment, and support, allowing them to take a more active role in combat against North Vietnamese forces. The aim was to enable South Vietnam to stand on its own, leading to a gradual withdrawal of U.S. troops while still attempting to maintain a strong anti-communist government in the region.
