Army of the Republic of Vietnam (ARVN)
The Army of the Republic of Vietnam (ARVN) was the ground force of South Vietnam during the Vietnam War, existing from 1955 until the fall of Saigon in 1975. Its primary mission was to combat the communist forces of North Vietnam and the Viet Cong insurgency. Supported by the United States and allied nations, ARVN received training and military aid. However, it faced challenges like corruption, low morale, and difficulties in coordination. The ARVN ultimately dissolved when North Vietnamese forces captured Saigon, leading to the reunification of Vietnam under communist control.
