The Pentagon

The Pentagon is the headquarters of the United States Department of Defense, located in Arlington, Virginia. It is a large, five-sided building, which is why it’s called the Pentagon. Completed in 1943, it houses around 26,000 military and civilian employees who plan and coordinate the country's defense operations. The structure is significant not only for its size and design but also as a symbol of military power and national security in the U.S. The Pentagon gained additional attention during the September 11, 2001 attacks, when it was struck by a hijacked airplane.
