Operation Desert Storm

Operation Desert Storm was the combat phase of the Gulf War, which began on January 17, 1991. It followed Operation Desert Shield, where coalition forces built up in Saudi Arabia to protect against Iraq’s invasion of Kuwait. Led by the United States, a coalition of 35 nations launched a swift military campaign, employing air strikes and ground troops. Within weeks, they successfully liberated Kuwait from Iraqi occupation.
