Pliny the Elder

Pliny the Elder was a Roman author, naturalist, and military commander who lived from 23 to 79 AD. He is best known for his vast encyclopedia, "Natural History," which covers topics ranging from astronomy and geography to botany and zoology. This work is one of the earliest efforts to compile human knowledge about the natural world, influencing future scientists and thinkers. Pliny also died during the eruption of Mount Vesuvius while attempting to rescue victims, showcasing his dedication to helping others.
