Fixed stars

Fixed stars are celestial bodies that appear to maintain a constant position relative to each other in the night sky, unlike planets that move against this backdrop. Most of these stars are part of our galaxy, the Milky Way, and are often billions of light years away. Historically, they were used for navigation and timekeeping. The term "fixed" comes from their relative stability in position, although they do move slowly over time due to the vast distances involved. They are key to understanding our universe and have been a source of inspiration in art and culture for centuries.
