Ghadar Party
The Ghadar Party was a revolutionary group formed in 1913 by Indian expatriates in the United States, primarily Punjabis, with the goal of ending British rule in India. It aimed to inspire Indians to rise against British colonial authorities through protests, propaganda, and armed rebellion. The party's name "Ghadar" means "mutiny" or "revolt" in Urdu and Punjabi, reflecting its mission. The group was particularly active during World War I, seeking to leverage the war to support their cause. Although the Ghadar movement was ultimately suppressed, it played a significant role in the larger Indian independence struggle.
