Ghadar
Ghadar, meaning "rebellion" in Urdu and Hindi, refers primarily to the Ghadar Movement, which was a revolutionary movement in the early 20th century, aimed at ending British rule in India. Formed by Indian expatriates in North America around 1913, particularly in California, the Ghadar Party sought to inspire a revolt in India through propaganda and planned uprisings. The movement gained traction during World War I, but ultimately did not succeed. It played a significant role in fostering nationalist sentiments among Indians and highlighted the struggle for independence, influencing future movements against colonialism.
