Babbar Akali Movement
The Babbar Akali Movement was a Sikh agitation in the early 1920s aimed at reforming Sikh religious practices and resisting oppressive British colonial policies. It emerged from the Akali movement, focusing on freeing Sikh Gurdwaras (places of worship) from corrupt management and asserting Sikh rights. The movement also opposed repressive laws and policies that marginalized Sikhs. Known for their activism, protests, and sometimes confrontations with authorities, the Babbar Akali Movement contributed to India's broader struggle for independence and highlighted Sikh identity and rights during the colonial period.
