Cirrhosis

Cirrhosis is a late-stage liver disease where healthy liver tissue is replaced by scar tissue, impairing the liver's ability to function properly. It can result from long-term damage due to alcohol abuse, viral infections like hepatitis, or conditions like fatty liver disease. Symptoms might include fatigue, easy bruising, swelling in the legs or abdomen, and jaundice (yellowing of the skin and eyes). While cirrhosis can be managed, it is irreversible and can lead to serious complications, including liver failure. Early detection and treatment are essential to slow its progression.
