Alcoholic Liver Disease

Alcoholic Liver Disease (ALD) refers to liver damage caused by excessive alcohol consumption over time. It includes a range of conditions, from fatty liver, where fat builds up in the liver, to alcoholic hepatitis, which is inflammation of the liver, and eventually cirrhosis, or permanent scarring of the liver. These conditions can impair the liver's ability to function, leading to serious health issues. Symptoms may include jaundice, fatigue, and abdominal pain. Treatment focuses on stopping alcohol intake, improving nutrition, and managing complications, promoting liver health and preventing further damage.
