Battle of Carrhae

The Battle of Carrhae took place in 53 BC between the Roman Republic and the Parthian Empire in what is now Turkey. Roman general Crassus led his army against the Parthians, seeking glory and wealth. However, the Parthian cavalry, particularly their heavy horse archers, outmaneuvered and decimated the Roman forces. Crassus's army was poorly positioned and suffered a catastrophic defeat, with many soldiers killed or captured. This battle highlighted the effectiveness of Parthian tactics and was a significant setback for Rome, impacting its eastern expansion and demonstrating vulnerabilities in its military strategies.
