The Crusader States
The Crusader States were a series of medieval Christian kingdoms established in the Levant after the First Crusade (1096-1099). As European knights captured key cities like Jerusalem, they formed these territories to establish Christian rule in predominantly Muslim areas. The main Crusader States included the Kingdom of Jerusalem, the County of Tripoli, the Principality of Antioch, and the County of Edessa. These states faced constant challenges from local Muslim powers and were marked by cultural exchanges. Their existence lasted until the late 13th century, significantly influencing Christian-Muslim relations and the geopolitics of the region.
