Baldwin IV of Jerusalem

Baldwin IV of Jerusalem, also known as Baldwin the Leper, was the King of Jerusalem from 1174 until his death in 1185. He was diagnosed with leprosy as a child, which progressively affected his health but not his intellect or leadership skills. Despite his illness, Baldwin tried to defend his kingdom against Muslim forces, particularly Saladin, and is noted for his bravery and strategic acumen. His reign was marked by political intrigue and conflicts, ultimately leading to political instability in the Crusader states after his death, as he left no strong heirs to continue his legacy.
