Socialist Federal Republic of Yugoslavia
The Socialist Federal Republic of Yugoslavia was a country in Southeast Europe, existing from 1945 until its dissolution in the early 1990s. It was a federation of six republics: Slovenia, Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro, Macedonia, and Serbia. After World War II, it was established as a socialist state, promoting a unique brand of socialism that allowed some market practices while maintaining a one-party system. The country's diverse ethnic groups coexisted for decades, but rising nationalism and economic difficulties led to conflict and eventually fragmentation into independent nations during the Yugoslav Wars.
