Slobodan Milošević
Slobodan Milošević was a Serbian politician who served as the President of Serbia (1989–1997) and later of the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia (1997–2000). He played a key role during the tumultuous breakup of Yugoslavia in the 1990s, overseeing nationalist policies amid the wars in Bosnia, Croatia, and Kosovo. His leadership was controversial, accused of fueling ethnic conflicts and war crimes. In 2001, he was charged by the International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia with atrocities related to these conflicts. He died in 2006 while awaiting trial.
