Kosovo Intervention

The Kosovo Intervention, also known as the Kosovo War (1998-1999), was a conflict involving ethnic Albanians seeking independence from Serbia. Growing tensions escalated into violent repression by Serbian forces. In response to humanitarian concerns and reports of ethnic cleansing, NATO launched a military campaign in March 1999, conducting airstrikes against Serbian military targets. The intervention aimed to protect civilians and restore peace. It led to the withdrawal of Serbian troops from Kosovo and ultimately the region’s declaration of independence in 2008, though Serbia still does not recognize this status. The intervention raised questions about international law and sovereignty.
