Operation Allied Force

Operation Allied Force was NATO's military campaign in 1999 aimed at stopping ethnic violence and human rights abuses in Kosovo, a region in Serbia. When diplomacy failed to resolve the conflict, NATO conducted targeted airstrikes against Serbian military and government infrastructure to pressure Yugoslav forces to withdraw from Kosovo and end oppression of the Albanian population. The operation lasted for about two months and involved extensive aerial bombing. Its goal was to restore stability, prevent further violence, and support Kosovo’s autonomy, ultimately leading to the withdrawal of Serbian forces and increased international attention to human rights issues.
