Yugoslav Tribunal
The Yugoslav Tribunal, officially known as the International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia (ICTY), was established by the United Nations in 1993 to prosecute serious crimes committed during the Balkan Wars in the 1990s. This included war crimes, genocide, and crimes against humanity. The tribunal aimed to deliver justice for victims, promote accountability for perpetrators, and contribute to peace and reconciliation in the region. It operated in The Hague, Netherlands, until 2017, completing numerous high-profile cases against political and military leaders involved in the conflicts.
