Skylab

Skylab was the United States' first space station, launched in 1973 by NASA. It served as a platform for scientific research in microgravity and human biology, allowing astronauts to study various experiments over prolonged periods in space. Skylab hosted three manned missions, where astronauts conducted experiments in solar observation, materials science, and human health. The station was eventually abandoned in 1974, and in 1979, it re-entered Earth's atmosphere, with some debris landing in Western Australia. Skylab's legacy helped pave the way for future space stations, including the International Space Station (ISS).
