Command Module (Columbia)

The Command Module, named Columbia, was part of NASA's Apollo program, specifically used during the historic Apollo 11 mission in 1969. It served as the main cabin for astronauts Neil Armstrong, Buzz Aldrin, and Michael Collins as they traveled to the Moon. Columbia housed all the necessary controls, life support systems, and communication equipment for the journey and re-entry into Earth's atmosphere. While the Lunar Module descended to the Moon’s surface, Columbia orbited above, ensuring safe communication and support. It played a crucial role in the success of the first manned Moon landing.
