Lunar Module (Aquarius)
The Lunar Module, specifically called Aquarius during the Apollo 13 mission, was a spacecraft designed for landing on the Moon and returning astronauts to the Command Module in orbit. It featured two main sections: the descent stage for landing and the ascent stage for taking off again. During Apollo 13, Aquarius became crucial when the main spacecraft experienced an oxygen tank explosion, allowing the crew to use its systems for survival and route back to Earth. Though they didn’t land, Aquarius demonstrated remarkable engineering and adaptability, showcasing human ingenuity in space exploration under extreme conditions.
