Apollo Lunar Module
The Apollo Lunar Module (LM) was a spacecraft used by NASA during the Apollo missions to land astronauts on the Moon and return them safely to the spacecraft orbiting above. It consisted of two main parts: the descent stage, which landed on the Moon, and the ascent stage, which carried the astronauts back to the command module. The LM was unique for its lightweight design and was the first human-rated vehicle to land on another celestial body. Notably, it played a crucial role in the historic Apollo 11 mission, where astronauts first set foot on the lunar surface in 1969.
