Lunokhod (Lunar Rover)
Lunokhod was a series of remote-controlled lunar rovers developed by the Soviet Union in the 1960s and 1970s to explore the Moon's surface. These robotic vehicles were equipped with cameras, scientific instruments, and wheels for movement, allowing scientists to examine the lunar landscape from afar. Lunokhods could operate independently for extended periods, transmitting data and images back to Earth, significantly advancing lunar science. The program demonstrated early success in robotic space exploration, paving the way for later missions involving more advanced rovers like those used by NASA on Mars.
