Rationalization

Rationalization is a psychological process where individuals try to justify or explain their actions, feelings, or decisions with logical-sounding reasons, often to reduce discomfort or guilt. These reasons may not be the true underlying motives but serve to make behavior feel acceptable or understandable. Essentially, it's a way people unconsciously create a rationale that makes their behavior seem reasonable, helping them maintain a positive self-image or lessen cognitive dissonance.
