Permanent Court of International Justice

The Permanent Court of International Justice (PCIJ) was established in 1922 as the first global court to settle disputes between countries and give legal advice on international issues. Based in The Hague, Netherlands, it aimed to promote peace and cooperation among nations following World War I. The PCIJ handled various cases involving boundary disputes, treaty interpretations, and more, providing a platform for legal dialogue. It operated until 1946, when it was succeeded by the International Court of Justice (ICJ), which continues its mission today. The PCIJ laid the groundwork for modern international law and diplomatic resolution of conflicts.
