"The League"
The League, formally known as the League of Nations, was an international organization founded after World War I in 1920 to promote peace and cooperation among countries. Established as part of the Treaty of Versailles, its main goals were to prevent wars, settle disputes diplomatically, and improve global welfare. Although it had some successes, it struggled with enforcing decisions and was criticized for its inability to prevent aggressive actions by countries in the 1930s. The League ultimately dissolved in 1946, replaced by the United Nations, which sought to build on its ideals for a more effective international collaboration.
