oyster farming
Oyster farming, also known as oyster aquaculture, is the cultivation of oysters in controlled marine environments. Farmers typically use seed oysters, which are small juvenile oysters, and place them in water on racks or in bags. They grow in estuaries or coastal areas where conditions are right for their development. Farmers monitor water quality, prevent diseases, and protect them from predators. After about 18 months to three years, oysters are harvested for food, contributing to both local economies and ecosystems by filtering water and providing habitat for other marine life.
