Operation Rolling Thunder
Operation Rolling Thunder was a sustained bombing campaign conducted by the United States during the Vietnam War from March 1965 to November 1968. Its primary goal was to weaken North Vietnam's ability to support the Viet Cong insurgency in South Vietnam by targeting industrial sites, transportation networks, and military installations. The operation aimed to demonstrate U.S. resolve and support the South Vietnamese government. However, it faced criticism for its effectiveness and led to significant civilian casualties, ultimately contributing to growing anti-war sentiment both domestically and internationally.
