Vietnamese Army (ARVN)
The Army of the Republic of Vietnam (ARVN) was the military force of South Vietnam during the Vietnam War, established in the 1950s. Its primary mission was to defend South Vietnam against the communist North Vietnamese Army and the Viet Cong. Funded and supported by the United States and other allies, the ARVN included land, air, and naval forces. Despite significant resources, it struggled with issues such as morale, leadership, and training. In 1975, as the Vietnam War ended, the ARVN collapsed when North Vietnamese forces captured Saigon, leading to the reunification of Vietnam under communist control.
