Operation Cedar Falls

Operation Cedar Falls was a major military campaign during the Vietnam War, conducted by U.S. and South Vietnamese forces from January to March 1967. Its main objective was to eliminate communist forces in the Iron Triangle area, a known stronghold of the Viet Cong. The operation involved heavy ground offensives, aerial bombardments, and the use of search-and-destroy tactics to dismantle enemy supply lines and infrastructure. Although the operation caused significant disruption, it also led to considerable civilian displacement and raised questions about the effectiveness and moral implications of such tactics in the broader context of the war.
