Operation Phoenix
Operation Phoenix was a covert program carried out by the U.S. during the Vietnam War, aimed at disrupting the Viet Cong's infrastructure and influence. Initiated in 1967, it involved intelligence gathering, interrogations, and targeted eliminations of suspected Viet Cong members. The operation aimed to neutralize threats by capturing or killing key figures, which included political and military personnel affiliated with the Viet Cong. However, Operation Phoenix faced criticism for human rights abuses and the lack of due process, raising moral and ethical concerns about the U.S. tactics during the war.
