Mary II of England
Mary II of England was a queen who ruled jointly with her husband, William III, from 1689 until her death in 1694. She was the daughter of King James II and Mary of Modena. Mary played a crucial role in the Glorious Revolution, which resulted in her overthrowing her father, a Catholic, in favor of a Protestant monarchy. This event marked the beginning of parliamentary power over the monarchy in England. Mary was known for her strong Protestant faith and commitment to the Church of England. Her reign helped establish greater religious tolerance and governmental stability in Britain.
