King William III of England

King William III of England, also known as William of Orange, ruled from 1689 to 1702. He came to power during the Glorious Revolution, which saw the overthrow of King James II, promoting parliamentary sovereignty and Protestant rule. William was born in the Netherlands and played a significant role in European politics, notably against French expansion under Louis XIV. His reign strengthened the constitutional monarchy in England and led to the Bill of Rights, establishing important civil liberties. William's efforts laid the groundwork for modern democracy and religious tolerance in Britain.
