Maharaja Ranjit Singh

Maharaja Ranjit Singh (1780-1839) was a prominent leader and the founder of the Sikh Empire in the Punjab region of India. Known as the "Lion of Punjab," he united various Sikh factions and effectively fought against the Afghan invasions. Ranjit Singh is celebrated for his secular governance, promoting religious tolerance, and modernizing the army. He established Lahore as the empire's capital and is recognized for constructing the iconic Golden Temple in Amritsar.
