Anglo-Sikh Wars

The Anglo-Sikh Wars were two conflicts between the British Empire and the Sikh Empire in the mid-19th century. The first (1845-1846) arose from tensions over control and expansion, ending with the British defeating the Sikhs and taking control of Punjab. The second (1848-1849) further solidified British dominance after Sikh resistance. These wars resulted in the annexation of Punjab into British India, ending the Sikh Empire's independence. The conflicts marked a significant expansion of British colonial rule in South Asia and had lasting impacts on regional history and sovereignty.
