Sikh Confederacy

The Sikh Confederacy was a loose network of semi-autonomous Sikh states and leaders in northern India during the 18th century. Instead of a centralized government, these regions were governed by local leaders known as misls, each maintaining their own armies and territories. They collaborated for mutual defense and to resist external threats, especially Mughal and Afghan forces. This confederacy played a crucial role in the eventual unification of Sikh territories and laid the groundwork for the later establishment of the Sikh Empire under Maharaja Ranjit Singh.
