Ibn Tumart
Ibn Tumart (1080–1130) was a significant Berber religious leader and founder of the Almohad movement in North Africa. He advocated for a strict interpretation of Islam, emphasizing monotheism and rejecting practices he viewed as corrupt or superstitious. Ibn Tumart sought to unify the Berber tribes under his reformist vision, leading to the Almohad Caliphate, which expanded its influence across Morocco and into parts of Spain. His teachings laid the groundwork for a religious revival and social reform, ultimately transforming the political landscape of North Africa during the 12th century.
