Battle of Sagrajas
The Battle of Sagrajas, fought in 1086 near present-day Badajoz, Spain, was a significant conflict during the Reconquista, when Christian kingdoms sought to reclaim territory from Muslim rule in the Iberian Peninsula. Led by the Almoravid commander Yusuf ibn Tashfin, the Muslim forces defeated the Castilian army under King Alfonso VI. This victory strengthened Almoravid control over Al-Andalus (Muslim Spain) and halted Christian advances for a time. The battle highlighted the ongoing struggle between Christian and Muslim forces in medieval Spain and had lasting implications for the region's political landscape.
