Pelayo

Pelayo was a Spanish nobleman and a key figure in the medieval Christian reconquest of the Iberian Peninsula from Muslim rule. He is best known for leading the resistance against the Moors in the early 8th century and is traditionally recognized as the founder of the Kingdom of Asturias, which marked the beginning of the Christian Reconquista.
