Extraocular muscles
Extraocular muscles are the six muscles surrounding each eye that control eye movement. They allow us to look in different directions—up, down, left, and right—supporting functions like tracking moving objects and coordinating eye movement. These muscles are essential for working together, ensuring both eyes move synchronously for proper depth perception and focus. Disorders affecting the extraocular muscles can lead to issues with vision and coordination, highlighting their importance in daily activities such as reading, watching television, or participating in sports.
