Diplopia
Diplopia, or double vision, occurs when a person sees two images of a single object. In neuro-ophthalmology, this can result from issues in the brain or the nerves controlling eye movement. Conditions like stroke, nerve damage, or certain neurological disorders can disrupt the coordination between the eyes, leading to misalignment. As a result, when one eye looks at an object, the other eye may be misaligned, causing the brain to receive conflicting information. Treatment options depend on the underlying cause and may include medications, prisms in glasses, or sometimes surgery.
