Eye Anatomy
The eye is a specialized organ that detects light and allows us to see. Its main parts include the cornea (the clear front surface), which protects and helps focus light; the iris, the colored part that controls how much light enters by adjusting the pupil size; the lens, which fine-tunes focus onto the retina. The retina at the back contains light-sensitive cells that convert light into electrical signals sent to the brain via the optic nerve, enabling vision. Other components like the vitreous gel and surrounding tissues support the eye's shape and function.
