Superior oblique muscle

The superior oblique muscle is one of the six muscles that control eye movement. It is located on the top and side of the eye's orbit and helps rotate the eye downward and outward, as well as assist with looking downward when the eye is turned inward. The muscle passes through a pulley-like structure called the trochlea before attaching to the eye. It is controlled by a nerve called the trochlear nerve. Proper functioning of the superior oblique is essential for precise eye movements and coordination, especially when tracking objects or reading.
