Durrani Empire
The Durrani Empire was a historic state in South Asia, primarily located in present-day Afghanistan, founded in the mid-18th century by Ahmad Shah Durrani. It emerged after the decline of the Mughal Empire and is considered a precursor to modern Afghanistan. The empire reached its height in the late 18th century, uniting various tribes and regions. Ahmad Shah Durrani is often referred to as the "father of Afghanistan." The empire began to decline in the early 19th century due to internal strife and external pressures, ultimately leading to the fragmented political landscape seen in the region today.
