Cross-Strait relations
Cross-Strait Relations refer to the political and economic interactions between Taiwan and mainland China, separated by the Taiwan Strait. Taiwan, officially the Republic of China (ROC), considers itself a separate nation, while mainland China views Taiwan as part of its territory. Tensions arise from differing views on sovereignty and governance. Over the years, there have been attempts at dialogue and cooperation, but also periods of conflict and military threats. The situation is complex, influenced by history, national identity, international politics, and economic ties, making it a significant issue in East Asian geopolitics.
