ROC (Republic of China)

The Republic of China (ROC) is a government that was established in 1912, initially governing all of China. After the Chinese Civil War, in 1949, it relocated to Taiwan, where it now operates as a separate political entity. While the ROC continues to claim sovereignty over all of China, it effectively governs Taiwan, which has developed its own democratic political system and economy. The ROC's status is complex, as many countries recognize the People's Republic of China (PRC) instead, leading to ongoing discussions about national identity, sovereignty, and international relations.
