Chiang Kai-shek

Chiang Kai-shek was a Chinese military and political leader who played a key role in 20th-century China's history. He led the Nationalist Party (Kuomintang) and fought to unify China, opposing warlords and later communist forces. He served as the leader of the Republic of China, first on the mainland until 1949, then in Taiwan after losing the Chinese Civil War.
