Artaxerxes I
Artaxerxes I was a king of the Persian Empire who ruled from 465 to 424 BCE. He was the son of Xerxes I and is best known for his efforts to maintain stability in a vast empire that included parts of Asia, Europe, and Africa. His reign saw conflicts, including wars with Greece, but he also oversaw significant administrative reforms and the rebuilding of Jerusalem's walls. Artaxerxes is often remembered for his tolerance of different cultures and religions within his empire, as well as for his interactions with the Hebrew Bible, notably in the book of Ezra.
